Nicky placed ninth for the "Top Ten Chinese Actor/Actress" that was conducted by Taiwan's Golden Horse Committee. He received a total of 3172 votes. For more information, click here.
Nicky and Tommy will be playing a TV series in Taiwan which will be release on December 21. It also stars Nisa Lin and Eli Shi.
Nicky has just finished filming the movie, "For Siu Do Ji Wan Han Ba Do" (Literally: Fire Burnt Island). The movie also stars Hao Shao-Wen and Yung Hung.
Nicky will be starring in a new movie with Takeshi Kaneshiro and the Singapore actress, Fann Wong.
Tommy's album with Eli Shi Yi Nan and Huang Zhong Qi has been released. It is called "Tang Xing Hao Se." They sing the song "Zhui1 Meng4 Yi1 Zu2" together. It is a cover version of Tat Ming Pair's Cantonese song, "A Forbidden Fruit Daily". The lyrics are written by Li Zhi Heng. This is the only song Tommy sings in the compilation. The rest of the songs are sung by other Polygram singers.
It has been reported that Nicky has been exempted from enlistment due to injuries to his right arm. Therefore, he will not have to go for his National Service yet.

January 1997

Nicky's movie, "King of Comics," was #8 in the Top Ten Chinese Movies Box Office Hits of 1996 in Taiwan. The movie grossed over $48 million Taiwan dollars.
Nicky's movie, "Gou Dan Da Bing" (Literally: Dog Egg Soldier), has been released. The movie also stars Yung Hung and Hao Shao-Wen.
There was a rumor that Benny was quitting the show business, but it wasn't true. He said his love for singing hasn't changed. The reason that he 'disappeared' was because he went to Canada for three months to improve himself and learn English. He made this decision because his first three albums did not sell well so he had lots of pressure. However, after his trip to Canada, he knows what he wants now and will not diappoint his fans. His Mandarin album will be released in the spring.
Rumors have also been spreading that Nicky is dating the 21 year old Taiwan model, Lee Wei Wei. However, they both deny the rumor.

During an interview in promoting his new Mandarin album, Nicky cried because he had lots of pressures from work, family, and the question if he has to go to the army. He said that he still does not know if he has to serve or not because they have not given him a definite answer. In addition, Nicky said that his doctor told him he has to undergo another surgery for his arm soon since the condition has worsen. He has already had two surgeries done to his right arm. Furthermore, he said the army problem had caused him to lose lots of opportunities in the movies industry, such as to work in Japan, Korea, and with HK director, Wong Ka Wai.

February 1997

Nicky's movie, "For Siu Do Ji Wan Han Ba Do" (Literally: Fire Burnt Island), will be released during Chinese New Year. This is Nicky's first movie to be released during the Chinese holiday. The movie also stars Takeshi Kaneshiro, Hao Shao-Wen, and Yung Hung.
Nicky rushed to finish Chu Yin Ping's latest movie, "Tian Sheng Jue Pei," before he went to the army. He even worked during the Chinese New Year holiday. The movie also stars Yung Hung.
Nicky's movie, "Bian1 Yuan2 Qing1 Nian2" (Teenager at Edge), had finished filming. However, there were some scenes that head to be re-shot. However, since Nicky had to go to the army, the movie company have not decided what to do yet. The movie also stars Benny and Annie Wu Chen Jun.
Kai Li's owner, Miao Xiu Li, organize a farewell dinner for Nicky on February 16th, the day before he had to go in. There were other singers there at the dinner, including Benny and Tommy.
Nicky went to the army on February 17th. Instead of taking the train like the others, Nicky was driven to an army camp for a two month pre-training before he actually serve for two years in the National Service. He didn't want his fans to wait for him at the train station and was afraid to he would be too depress when he sees them. However, he states that he does not worry anymore because the earnings from his two Thai restaurants would be enough to support his family during the next two years. In addition, he states that during these two years, he wants to live like an ordinary person with no stress. He would take care of himself so his fans should not worry about him. He says after two years, he may change his star image. However, if things change and his fans no longer supports him, then he will quit show business and do something else. Furthermore, Nicky's little brother is currently serving in the army, too.
On Nicky's first day at the army camp, they shaved his head. He said that the living is better than he expected. In fact, many of the other soldiers helped him out and was very friendly. However, during basic training, Nicky injured his right arm. They sent him the hospital emergency room. Afterwards, Nicky said that he will have to call his mother to bring him medication for his injury in case it happens again. The army has found a doctor to take a look at his arm. Afterward, they will decide if he is capable of serving in the army.
Tommy has begun recording his new Mandarin album which will be release in April. He hopes that the album will sell well since he didn't release any album last year. His last album, "Going," sold five platinum.
In the past year, Tommy concentrated in the movie industry. He made three movies, "Forever Friends", "Pickup Artiste", and "Color of Love". He also starred in two idol TV series, "Pursuing Dreams Group" (Zhui Meng Yi Zu) and "Old Fashion Love Song" (Lao Shi Qing Ge). In "Old Fashion Love Song," he has a crush on Taiwan singer, Yang Lin. People found his acting to be very good in both of these TV series. Thus, he has been nominated for the TV Golden Clock Awards.
Last year, Tommy was involved in two car accidents. Since then, he has gone to many different places helping needy people and have been giving talks about the importance of life. Tommy hopes that this year will go well for him. He hopes for good health and that he will be able to do well in his acting career.
